JPMorgan awarded the small business grant, totaling $230,000 to the FirstPathway Partners project, under a partnership designed to "attract investors to emerging water technology companies."
Last year the Center received a $225,000 grant, as part of the national five-year $30 million grant program. This program analyzes the efforts and success of small businesses, chooses a deserving recipient, and then provides a grant to boost support networks that help growing enterprises in select industries, particularly water-related.
The grant will be helpful as the Center provides specialized training for angel investors, programming to connect corporation innovation departments with startups, and to introduce the first Water Venture Investment Conference at the Water Environment Federation's Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference in Chicago.
The Global Water Center has been featured in various media outlets, such as The Business Journal, Yahoo! Finance, Forbes, CNN, World News, Fox6 News, and more. The success of the project is evident in the awards it has received, notably the U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Innovation Cluster Award, 2014 Mayor's Design Award for Design Excellence, and the American Institute of Architects Design Award, to name a few.
