During the 6th Annual IIUSA EB-5 Industry Forum set in Los Angeles, Kraft served as panelist during a breakout session. The topic was Issue Spotting in EB-5 Legislation for Regional Centers.
The panel explored the different issues addressed in various legislation on EB-5. From TEA reform, to job creation methodology, to integrity measures and more, panelists discussed issues that would affect Regional Center projects and weighed in on the provisions in current legislation.
Congressman Michael McCaul, Chairman of Homeland Security, was another key speaker at the event. He noted, "I support the long-term re-authorization of the EB-5 Program. Such an authorization should be coupleted with measures to strengthen the Program... My hope is that the committees — on judiciary and both the House and Senate can find a good compromise so that we don't end up... extending this program for just another year. It's too important — seeing the value of foreign investment in the United States. This is not about capital leaving the United States or jobs leaving. This is about capital coming into the United States and jobs coming into the United States."
IIUSA released the following statement upon the close of the conference: "With the help of our members, event sponsors, and leadership, this year’s EB-5 Industry Forum provided much needed momentum for Program reauthorization ahead of the December 9th sunset date,” said IIUSA Executive Director Peter D. Joseph. “The Program is constantly evolving and this has proven time and time again to be an effective forum to discuss those changes. Attendees from across the globe came to network, learn, and grow in their understanding of the EB-5 Program, particularly at this pivotal moment for this industry."
